I'm sad that I'm flying
I didn't think that I would write about what I accomplished today, but I will. I accomplished meeting with my CAT group, starting math homework and reviewing for cog sci. Tomorrow I work from 9-2 and I have class from 3-5. Tuesday my CAT group presents, Wednesday is my cog sci midterm, Thursday is my enrollment date, and Friday is the due date for my CAT essay outline/draft (I should have finished the novel by then). I haven't finished the FAFSA because my dad hasn't sent me the info that I need in order to fill it out.
My suite tied another suite for the cleanliness/comfort contest thing. That means our RA needs more people to judge them to choose a winner. That means our suite is now clean.
Damn, I stopped studying cog sci to write this. Actually, no, I stopped cog sci due to boredom, and then I wrote this. Either way, I don't feel like going back to reviewing cog sci. Perhaps I'll work on that Java applet...yes...the enemies must be able to fire as well.

I like my women like I like my coffee...covered in bees!
I did two things today that I knowingly did not put on my list yesterday because they were not things that I needed to do. That is, I worked on my Java applet and went geocaching.
My suite is currently re-decorated our lounge. We are competing with the three other suites in this building...to have the best suite by Sunday. Movie posters everywhere.
Damn, I was off by 11 minutes.

Because people try to drive without headlights
This weekend I need to finish the FAFSA, write a speech, get immunized, study chemistry, math and cogsci, work on the CAT project, get department approval, and read a novel.
My posts are not getting progressively shorter because my last post was shorter than this one.

Mini-conference on nerdology
I wasted too much time messing around with that Java applet. Damnit.

It's actually raining
When I left my lab today it was actually raining, making the bike ride back unnecessarily wet. At least my bike was in a functional state. I took it to the bike-shop on Tuesday and told the same guy who did a shitty job of fixing my rear tire about his shitty job. He fixed it again (without charging), but I noticed that the front wheel was now misaligned. Do they seriously have to screw something up everytime they fix something else? Fortunately, I managed to realign the wheel later that day, hence my bike being in a functional state as I rode from TSRI to class through the rare La Jolla rain.
I have been messing around with Java for the past couple of days, as I aim to take a course on it next quarter. Given what I know about C++, it is easy. I set a goal for myself to make a certain applet and I just finished it. Since it is rather trivial and yet took several hours, I don't feel like posting it online. Perhaps I'll upload it later once it becomes not only more complex, but also a ridiculous waste of time.

Something
I have things to do and some time to do them in, but I'm tired. Work takes away a lot of time that would otherwise have been wasted free time. CAT reading would be good. I have to meet with my CAT group in twenty minutes to discuss the presentation of our project. The project required us to observe our perception of time while taking two different methods of transportation, so we chose to take a ferry to Coronado and to walk around there. Good times.
It is the seventh week of the second quarter. The highlight of the first quarter was most likely being cited for illegal entry into the underground tunnel system at UCSD. Exploring those tunnels was definitely worth such a misconduct, but doing it again would not be, as the consequences would exceed a simple, informal resolution and a letter of warning.
I had two midterms at the end of last week, so now there should be a lull shortly before I have another batch of midterms crammed in before I take finals in the eleventh week. Maybe I have a cognitive science midterm this week. I'm not sure. I have to take my clothes out of the washer.

Do you have any enemies?
My bike got a flat tire on Wednesday. I took it to the bike-shop on Friday, and they replaced the tubing in the tire (which cost 10 dollars). It turns out a screw had punctured the wheel well enough to damage the tubing. The guy at the bike-shop asked me, "Do you have any enemies?" after showing me the screw in the tire, which I must have unknowingly ran over while biking.
Upon riding the bike back to my dorm, I noticed that the tire was slightly crooked such that every rotation of the wheel caused me to feel like I was running over a bump, which is very inconvenient. Since the bike-shop is closed on weekends and holidays, I had to ask a suitemate if I could borrow his bike in order to bike to The Scripps Research Institute (which I will henceforth refer to as TSRI...where I work as a lab assisant) on Monday. He lent me his key, and this morning I learned a valuable lesson. Don't assume that other peoples' bikes work properly. Moreover, don't assume that other peoples' bikes don't suck. I didn't even get past Geisel Library when the chain got tangled with itself rendering the bike temporarily unrideable. Since it was 8am I didn't feel like attempting to fix it (which I later did on the way back) so I locked it up next to the library.
35 or so minutes later I arrived at TSRI to realize that I don't yet have an access card, so I had to wait a few minutes until someone entered the lab so I could sneak in. Since I haven't posted since I started working at TSRI I'll give a brief description of what I do. My responsibilities are basically to prepare media, autoclave things, make needed solutions and gels (which usually involves using substances that are either neurotoxins or carcinogens), clean the lab, and other such tasks. Anyway, for some reason neither of the autoclaves were working today, and because it is a holiday the maintenance people are missing. That was somewhat annoying as I couldn't autoclave the TB media I made...so it will probably be dumped.
Since Google doesn't have a special logo today, I don't consider it a holiday.
I will post daily.
